2011 - The Story So Far!!

The story so far!
As we head into the last couple of months of 2011, I thought I would say a few words about the progress of the band! Well to say there has been progress would be an understatement!
From April onwards it has been outstanding! The infusion of Simon and Wayne earlier this year has been fantastic! I can't sing their praises highly enough!
With lots of hard work at band camp each week we are steadily crafting a show that will be up there with the best of them on the circuit! Each gig is a learning curve and each one we are adding new ideas and ditching the dead wood!
This will be an on-going process and we will not apologise for any artistic mistakes we may do along the way!
It is already apparent that big Jim’s stage presence along side Wayne's awesome guitar playing has already turned a few heads! (check review page)
Both Wayne and Jim have been head hunted for their talents! Wayne with a couple of local bands and Jim with a tribe from the amazon rain forest! Both have declined their respective offers we are pleased to say! Although we have seen some anonymous letters wishing Jim to reconsider???? Hopefully Simon and I will get a look in at stardom one day!!!
We will not be 4 guys banging out tunes for 90 mins drink lots of beer pick up the money and then go for a curry!!!!! Strike that yes we will!! But, in the process, put on a show. A visual as well as an audio experience!
Bands of any genre, be it professional or part time must have a chemistry and common goal. We have that and it’s put us where we are today! On stage as well as off it! These must have properties only come round now and again! I know from experience that we are very lucky to have the comradeship that we have! I'm sure there are many people who would like to be in our privileged shoes! We will never take it for granted.
Prior to April I tried to look after media, technical and booking side of things! Being the ex-pro I thought it would be best to do so. Not easy when you’re out of the country 5 days out of 7.
And so when Simon and Wayne arrived lots of these unseen activities were taken off Big Jim and myself.
2011 has had its ups and downs, fortunately more ups than downs! We have been doing 2 festivals including headlining Spondonfest! Radio air play and interviews! Along with our hyper shows in between! All in all a lot has been crammed in the past 6 to 8 months!
So in closing I would like to say a big thanks to Simon Berry for all the media work, which is now paying big dividends! The revamp of the website, the upgrade of our Facebook page, the launch of Twitter and a fresh look Myspace!
BLDS staff! Bill Lilly himself, Denis Vickery, Carl Payne and Sarah Wood for helping out the band with their quiet and unassuming support! They are my unsung heroes for getting me back in time for band camp and gigs! Also for the very kind use of the company's facilities! The band is eternally grateful! (“Here, here!!” – rest of band)
Having the infrastructure in the background to rehearse and store the gear and transport is priceless!
With everything in place in 2012 Final Cut are all very happy bunnies and looking forward to a rocking new year!
Sandy
